Philippe Vergne and Chrissie Iles curated Day for Night, the 2006 Biennial. More than a hundred artists are
represented, including Pierre Huyghe, Marilyn Minter, Sturtevant, and Troy Brauntuch.
Rahter disappointing if you ask me, a lot of the newcomers have been around on the European art circus for a
long time.

Tomoko Sawada
Sawada, from Kobe, Japan, is almost thirty, but she has no trouble passing as a schoolgirl. Sawada’s shifts of
identity may not resonate here as acutely as Cindy Sherman’s or Nikki S. Lee’s, but she tweaks stereotypes with
the best of them.

1968: ALL IN A DREAM
In a show that attests to the suggestive power of the anonymous snapshot, nearly five hundred of them are hung
unframed and side by side for an exhibition that invites us to draw our own conclusions. The pictures were rejected
or forgotten at a photo processor outside of Boston, and some of them are over- or double-exposed, but these
avant-garde accidents are mere ripples in a sea of fascinating ordinariness: new puppies, dead deer, smiling bride,
birthday cake. Since the year is 1968, other ripples—a peace sign, love beads, a Dylan poster, and lots of sailors
and soldiers—stud the deceptively bland surface like unexploded bombs.

Matthew Barney
No photography but one of my all time favorites. I know, I know he is the superstar of the art scene and Björks
man, but I think he is brilliant and really deserves to be there. The ultimate master of storytelling and his
drawings are wonderful. Absolute must see show!!!
