Top 10 black metal pictures

Oh my, I’ll just let this one speak for itself. A very wonderful person has amassed this amazing collection of Black Metal images for your review and amusement. It’s just fantastic. For you Flavorphoto fans at work, I have to warn you of nudity in image number one. Nasty nudity at that. Above photo by unknown (yet clearly ass-kicking) photographer.

Nomi Song

Nomi Song Klaus Nomi

This is an incredible documentary on an amazing (and amazingly strange) New Wave artist. If you’ve heard of Klaus Nomi, then you know his Opera-style singing talents (and you’re most likely European). If you don’t know him, then rent this and prepare to be blown away. I loved this movie. The scene of Klaus playing Saturday Night Live with David Bowie will most likely feed my nightmares for weeks to come. Love it!

Hamburger Eyes

Hamburger Eyes

Billed as “the most epic magazine ever,” Hamburger Eyes is a quarterly photozine that accepts and shows submitted photos from all manner of amateur photographers (and a few professionals!). Even doper than reading it is sending them photos and getting published. So get going!
Above photo by Stefan (Endless Shaka). And if you’re wondering whether a skinny white dude really had to get an ironic tattoo that says “Hug Life,” then the answer is - yes - he did. And the rest of us have to suffer for it.

Epicly Later\'d

Don’t ask me, because I’m just as confused (and impressed) as you are. In looking over Vice Magazine’s site, I noticed that they’ve chosen a new photo editor and linked to his blog. All that I can figure out is that he’s named Patrick. And that he seems to hang out with a bunch of LA/NY skaters and rockers. And that he seems to be having a much crazier time in life than I am. Take a look for yourself. Damn, I really have to start budgeting money for the occassional hummer limo ride every now and then. Above photo by “Patrick.”

For the next two weeks, Flavorphoto asks for your greatest, sweatiest, sunniest, craziest, snootiest, (and so on) SUMMER PHOTOGRAPHS. Merely drop us an e-mail at contest@flavorphoto.com, and we’ll put them into two places of honor:

1. The riveting Flavorphoto Daily Blog
2. The stunning Flavorphoto Summer Album in our Gallery

Images should be low-res, and around 500 x 333 pixels. If you’re having trouble resizing your shot, then don’t “sweat it” (that was bad!), and send us what you got. We’ll make it fit. After all the shots are collected, we’ll send out the whole gallery for everyone to see and admire. And the finest image will merit our sexy Naneu Pro Delta Bag as a free gift!

Submit as many images as you like - as often as you like. All formats, film and digital, are accepted. They just have to scream SUMMER!

Save CBGB Benefit Shows

Gorilla Biscuits at CBGB

It looks like the NYC birthplace of punk and new wave, CBGB & OMFUG, will face eviction later this year. In a last-ditch effort to save the place, they are staging a massive lineup of shows featuring classic rock, punk, and hardcore bands. I’m talking people like Gorilla Biscuits, Living Color, Misfits, and Sick of It All. If you don’t have tickets already for these amazing shows, then forget about getting them - the hot ones sold out in about 10 minutes. I feel your pain - we couldn’t get them either. We can only stand in vicious envy of those who did.

The Origin of Dude

Dude

Dude. Ever wonder where the term “Dude” came from? Live Science news has a nice bite-size history of “Dude.” Check it out, dude! Okay, that joke got tired pretty fast.

Garage Glamour

Garage Glamour

Okay, you probably know that “Glamour” is a thinly-veiled euphemism for a certain sexually-tinged style of photography. If this is your sort of thing, then definitely check out Garage Glamour, the king of all Glamour portals. And hey, check it out even if you’re not a Terry Richardson in training. The advice on lighting, working with models, and camera equipment is top-notch.
