Photopermit.orgMonday, August 29th, 2005Chances are, you’re already pissed that NY Times reporter Judith Miller is rotting in jail while people like Marion “Suge” Knight can walk away with probation after several violent crimes. Who wouldn’t be? Get your dander up a little higher by reading the tales of anti-photographer oppression and discrimination at Photopermit.org. And while you’re at it, write a congressman! Oh, and don’t tell Suge that we were talking about him. In-Public Street PhotographyMonday, August 29th, 2005
Billed as an online home for street photographers, In-Public contains the work of 15 different photographers and a pleasant “Pic of the Month” feature. It’s not too user-friendly, but it’s worth rooting around a bit. Above pic by Melanie Einzig. Summer Lovin Contest WinnerThursday, August 25th, 2005

This awesome video by Ruben Fleisher has nothing to do with photography, but who really cares. We could spend all day watching her dance. How To :: Save images for the WebWednesday, August 24th, 2005If you’re an “Image->Image Size->Enter in 500 pixels->Save” kind of guy or gal, then this one’s for you. Greg Downing’s excellent article at Nature Scapes breaks down the proper and profi way to do it. Thanks to NYC Photobloggers for the link! Treat Your Mother Right Music VideoTuesday, August 23rd, 2005
If you told me that the whole Mr. T retro-revival thing is mad tired, then I would be inclined to agree. However, just when you’ve had it up to here with the “A-Team,” “FOOL!,” and “I ain’t gettin’ on no plane,” something like this music video comes along and suddenly Mr. T is funny again. Trust us - it’s worth sitting through the stupid commerical before it. Especially for the part when he rhymes “moan” with “born.” It won’t work in Firefox, but Internet Explorer is smooth as silk. Canon 5D DSLR AnnouncedMonday, August 22nd, 2005
It’s official. Later this year, the first semi-affordable full-frame DSLR is landing on earth. With a planned retail of around 3000 bucks, the 5D will shoot full frame, 13 megapixel images. Its body will be about the size of the 20D, and much less bulky then the current huge and uber-expensive 1Ds series cameras. The full-frame ratio means that standard lenses can be used at their intended focal length - with no magnification factor. This is going to be a great new tool for the stock, editorial, wedding, and hardcore consumer photography segments. Better start saving now! Check out the preview on luminous landscape. Lil Jon in High School - Hot or Not?Friday, August 19th, 2005
The above image depicts Lil Jon, the dirty south’s “King of Crunk” as he was way back in high school. This JoeRod forum post contains an enormous debate on whether he looked good, looked bad, or whether it matters either way. I’ll warn you that it has (a) shockingly bad use of English, (b) a suprising amount of profanity, and (c) a serious over-concentration of cliches. But that doesn’t make it any less entertaining. My favorite response of the whole batch is: How To : Digital vs. FilmWednesday, August 17th, 2005Okay, you know some of the basic arguments. One one side, digital allows you to preview the picture, choose your white balance and ISO on the fly, and take thousands of images. On the other side, film is still much cooler and (arguably) takes better, more soulful pictures. But let’s say you’re a tech-head who really wants to delve into the hardcore details? Then this excellent comparison report is for you! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
