Okay, I’m willing to bet that the joke wears thin pretty fast, but for a little while this rapping, skateboarding, and bag punching maniac from Russia is seriously charming. Bad english and ironically awful website design just add to the initial appeal. Visit if you dare.

Life may be a game but Jorgen Angel don’t play. He’s amassed quite a nice collection of classic rock images from all manner of bands. Besides Miss Tina, he’s got Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, and a shockingly good image of The Sweet. Be sure to nose around his gallery to take it all in. Above photo by Jorgen Angel.

Jay is not taking any prisoners with his hard-hitting documentary style. Shooting for the likes of Tokion magazine, he brings the pain with snapshot portraits and harsh on-camera flash. In addition to the handsome shot of Collin above, you should also check his images of Bam Margera , John Waters, and LEMMY! . Above image by Jason Nocito.

So you’re up late every night keeping your negatives and digi-files well organized for that hard-hitting, life-on-the-street photo documentary book that you’re planning. Well, at least I am. Either way, you’ll want to dive into the frustrating and fairly complex world of model releases sooner than later. Check out what my man Dan Heller has to say about it. His website may be a little hectic looking, but it’s packed full with quality info.

The self-proclaimed king of rai, Khaled Hadj Brahim was born in Algeria in 1960. As a young man he was fiercely drawn to rai, the officially despised but wildly popular music of Algeria’s outcasts. When he started collaborating with producer Rachid Baba Ahmed, Cheb (Young) Khaled revolutionized rai, turning it into a synthesizer and drum-machine driven pop music in which the modern sound and racy lyrics were an implicit challenge to Algeria’s conservative culture. In the mid-80s, fundamentalist violence forced him to relocate to France, from which he has continued to push the boundaries of rai, exploring its affinity with funk, reggae and R&B. This is Khaled’s second visit to SummerStage (1991).
